HC Deb 04 August 1903 vol 126 cc1440-1
MR. WEIR

To ask the Secretary of State for India whether he has received a telegram from the Viceroy of India strongly protesting against the proposal to charge the revenues of India with part of the cost of the increased garrison in South Africa; and will he state what decision has been arrived at.

(Answered by Secretary Lord George Hamilton.) A telegram has been received from the Government of India on this subject expressing dissent from the suggestion which had been sent out for their consideration, and informing me that a despatch is on its way home.
