HC Deb 30 April 1903 vol 121 c954
MR. FORDE RIDLEY (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he will grant the Return respecting Bankrupt Aliens in Great Britain which appears on to-day's Notice Paper.

The Return referred to is as follows:—Aliens (Bankruptcy), Return of the number of Aliens who have become Bankrupt in Great Britain since the year 1890, of the total amount of liabilities involved, and of the assets realised in these cases.

MR. GERALD BALBOUR

I fear I cannot grant the Return asked for by the hon. Member, as the statistical records of the Bankruptcy Department do not enable them to distinguish aliens from other bankrupts. I understand, however, that the Senior Official Receiver in Bankruptcy is about to give evidence before the Royal Commission on Alien Immigration, and I would suggest to my hon. friend that he should allow his Motion for a Return to stand over for a short time. During the interval I will communicate with the Official Receivers, and see whether it would be possible to give some of the information desired, at any rate for a period of two or three years.
