HC Deb 29 April 1903 vol 121 c788
GENERAL LAURIE (Pembroke and Haverfordwest)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he has information which he can communicate to the House as to the channels through which the followers of the Mullah in Somaliland are supplied with rifles and ammunition, with which they are stated to be so plentifully supplied.

MR. BRODRICK

It is believed that the Mullah has obtained his arms and ammunition chiefly from Arab smugglers on the coast of Somaliland. Every effort has been, and is being, made by His Majesty's Government, in consultation with the Italian Government, to suppress this traffic.
