To ask the Lord Advocate if he will state how many schools in the Highland crofting counties received grants in respect of continuation classes during the year 1902–3, and the amount paid to these schools.

(Answered by Mr. A. Graham Murray.) During the financial year 1902–3 the sum of £2,455 17s. 8d. was paid for continuation classes conducted in seventy-two schools in the Highland crofting counties.
