Gentleman the Prime Minister a question of which I have given him private notice—namely, what steps the Government propose to take in view of the failure of the recent negotiations for the settlement of the Penrhyn quarry dispute?

Gentleman I have to say that this matter has been most carefully watched by His Majesty's Government; and my right hon. friend the President of the Board of Trade will, as he has more than once stated, intervene in the direction of conciliation if he sees there is the smallest prospect of such intervention leading to good results. Intervention where there is no such prospect would do more harm than good.

§ MR. A. J. BALFOURI do not imagine there is a single topic such as this, which is chiefly of local interest, which has been discussed so often in this House. I do not think it would be possible to assign a day for the third or fourth discussion.
