HC Deb 01 April 1903 vol 120 c787
MR. BOLAND (Kerry, S.)

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that income tax is levied, both in Australia and in England, on residents in England whose income is derived from purely Australian sources; and whether, in view of the rate of income tax in some of the Australian States, in considering any scheme for the reduction of income tax, he will take into consideration the claim for remission on the part of those who have to pay a double tax on the same source of income.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. RITCHIE,) Croydon

I am aware of the facts referred to by the hon. Member, but I am afraid I cannot hold out any hope of compliance with the suggestion his Question contains.
