§ SIR ALBERT ROLLIT (Islington, S.)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he proposes to act upon and carry out the report of the Select Committee on the Term of Repayment of Loans, especially in relation to loans in respect of the better housing of the people; and, if so, when he will introduce legislation for the purpose; or whether the Local Government Board propose to act upon the recommendations in the report as a matter of Departmental administration.
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. WALTER LONG,) Bristol, S.Legislation would be necessary to give effect to some of the recommendations of the Committee, particularly in relation to loans for purposes of the Housing of the Working Classes Acts. It would not be practicable to legislate on the subject during the present Session; but I have the Report of the Committee now under consideration, and I hope shortly to 809 arrive at a decision with regard to the proposals in it so far as administrative action is concerned.
