HC Deb 20 October 1902 vol 113 c219
MR. MOON

To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether a lifeboat worth £3,000 was recently sent out to the Lagos Government, and, being condemned immediately on her arrival by the harbour master, now lies useless in the harbour.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain.) A lifeboat, of which the total cost, including freight to the Colony, was £2,256 9s. 6d., was sent out to Lagos early in 1900. No lifeboat has been sent out since then, and no complaints have been received with regard to the one sent out in 1900, but inquiry will be made.
