To ask the Postmaster General whether any guarantees have been give to the Post Office for the trunk telephone services established by the Post Office to the towns of Naas, Newry and Banbridge; if so, what are the annual amounts guaranteed for the trunk telephone to each town; and whether the guarantee is given by the urban councils of said towns, and if not, by whom.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The National Telephone Company have undertaken to give a guarantee of about £112 a year for a trunk extension to Naas. The existing trunk line to Newry is Provided under a guarantee of £68 15s. a year from the same company. A guarantee of £65 a year has been given by the urban district council for the Banbridge trunk line.
