HC Deb 26 November 1902 vol 115 c509
MR. TULLY

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney General for Ireland whether he can state on what grounds the Incorporated Law Society have refused to make Irish an optional subject in the examinations for admission to the solicitors' profession; and whether he proposes to take any steps in the matter.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. ATKINSON,) Londonderry, N.

I have no information on the first part of the Question. The subjects for examination are prescribed by regulations made by the Incorporated Law Society in pursuance of the 8th Section of the Solicitors (Ireland) Act, 1898. I have no authority to intervene in the matter.
