I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland what is the amount of the subsidy paid out of the public funds yearly to the Shannon Development Company; whether his attention has been directed to the report of the county surveyor to the last meeting of the Leitrim County Council that the steamer service was not satisfactory; and what steps he proposes to take as to the future payments of the subsidy to this company.

£;1,000 for the year ending May next. The attention of the Commissioners of Works has not been directed to the report in question. It is not proposed to suspend payment of the subsidy payable under the existing agreement with the Company.
