MR. WEIR

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether his attention has been called to an accident which occurred on the North British Railway at Waverley Station, on the 23rd April last, whereby a shunter named Sinclair Thomson was injured; and, in view of the recommendation the Board's sub-inspector that stringent instructions should be giver against the practice of detaching screw coupled vehicles when in motion, will he state whether the North British Railway Company have yet arranged to give effect to this recommendation.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) Yes; the railway company informed the Board of Trade on the 12th September last that instructions had been given forbidding the practice of detaching screw-coupled vehicles while in motion at Waverley Station.
