HC Deb 24 November 1902 vol 115 c230
SIR SEYMOURKING () Hull, Central

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been directed to a letter addressed to the Local Government Board by the Association of Port Sanitary Authorities on 19th November, 1901, requesting them to issue an Order applying the provisions of The Public Health and Local Government Conferences Act, 1885, to the various Port Sanitary Authorities, so as to give them power to apply their funds in paying expenses incidental to attending meetings of the Association of Port Sanitary Authorities; and will he say why no answer has been as yet given to this communications, and what course the Local Government Board propose to adopt in regard to the matter.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) I do not find that I have received the letter referred to, but representations have been made to me as to the issue of an Order applying the Act mentioned in the Question to port sanitary authorities. Legislation would, however, be necessary to enable me to issue an Order for this purpose, and the point has been noted for consideration when an opportunity for legislation arises.
