§ MR. COGHILL () Stoke-on-TrentI beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether any change has recently been made in the constitution of the Irish Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction.
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURIn answer to my hon. friend, I have to say that no change has been made in the constitution of the Department.
§ MR. COGHILLMay I ask whether the Vice-President is still performing the duties of the office, and still taking his salary?
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURYes, Sir.
§ MR. COGHILLWas there not a distinct pledge given that this office would be a Parliamentary one?
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURI do not think any distinct pledge was given. I am quite sure nobody acquainted with the work which the Vice-President of this Department has done in Ireland would do otherwise than think that the appointment has not only fulfilled, but more than fulfilled, any expectations formed of it.
