HC Deb 19 November 1902 vol 114 c1350
MR. LABOUCHERE (Northampton)

To ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government has given any pledges or entered into any reciprocal agreements with any Foreign Power in regard to China or Japan, of which this House has not been made cognisant; whether it has given any such pledges or entered into any such reciprocal agreements in regard to the Mediterranean or to any country abutting on it with any Foreign Power of which this House has not been made cognisant.

(Answered by Lord Cranborne.) I venture to hope that the hon. Gentleman will forgive me if I am only able to reply that I have no statement to make upon the inquiry which he has addressed to me. Any other reply, he will allow me to say, would be contrary to public interest.
