To ask the Postmaster General whether, seeing that telegraph clerks are subject to dismissal if it is discovered that they indulge in betting transactions, he will take steps to provide that telegraph clerks in receipt of 12s. per week to 30s. per week shall not be engaged in the transmission of telegrams containing sporting intelligence.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) It would be quite impracticable to carry out the hon. Member's suggestion.
