HC Deb 28 May 1902 vol 108 c777
MR. STUART SAMUEL

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether interest chargeable with income tax under Schedule C of the Income Tax Acts is chargeable at the rate in force at the date on which the interest is received in this country by the agent entrusted with its distribution, or at the rate in force at the date on which the interest becomes due.

(Answer.) The hon. Member is presumably referring to interest from foreign or colonial sources, which is chargeable under Schedule C of the Income Tax Acts. The income tax on such interest is payable at the rate in force at the date at which payment of the interest due is first obtainable in this country from the agent entrusted with its distribution.—(Treasury.)
