HC Deb 15 May 1902 vol 108 c360
MR. WEIR

To ask the Secretary of State for India, in view of the fact that the shed in which passengers, leaving Calcutta by outward bound steamers, assemble for medical examination had been out of repair for several months prior to the 8th January last, and that passengers had to await the arrival of the medical officer for examination in the open street, will he ascertain whether the shed has yet been put in repair; and will he consider the expediency of taking such steps as may be necessary to require the punctual attendance of the medical officer, especially in connection with the morning sailings.

(Answer.) I have no knowledge of the allegations made by the hon. Member. I will bring them to the notice of the proper authority in India.—(India Office.)
