AMBROSE (Mayo, W.)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether the Crown has any right over the foreshore at Annagh, in the Clive Estate, Achill Island, County Mayo, and, if so, will he state what are those rights; if the Crown has parted with those rights to whom have they been granted, and under what statute have they been granted, and what is the date of that grant.
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURThe foreshore at Annagh, in County Mayo, is prima facie the property of the Crown.; So far as I know, the Crown have not 1096 parted with any of their rights in the foreshore at this spot, but since notice of the Question was given, I have been informed that the owner of the adjoining estate claims the ownership of the foreshore. Any evidence which he may submit in support of his claim will be considered by the legal advisers of the Board.
