WEIRI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in view of the losses sustained by the mercantile marine through the insufficient lighting of the entrance to Bilbao Harbour, will he state whether the subject has yet been brought under the notice of the Spanish authorities; and, if so, with what result.
§ LORD CRANBORNESince April, 1901, His Majesty's Ambassador at Madrid has brought the matter of the lighting of the entrance to Bilbao Harbour on several occasions before the Spanish Government. The Spanish authorities, however, refuse to admit that the present mode of lighting the entrance is insufficient. The matter is still under consideration.
