§ MR. WEIRI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he will state what decision has been arrived at in regard to the proposed increase in the salaries of sheriffs in Scotland.
§ MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAINIncreases of £200 per annum each have been sanctioned in the salaries at Airdrie and Lanark and of £100 per annum each in the salaries at Banff', Dunfermline, Falkirk, Hamilton, Paisley, and the two 443 Edinburgh districts. Against the increased cost involved in this arrangement, there will ultimately be a set off of £860 per annum due to certain amalgamations which are to be effected as vacancies occur.
