HC Deb 24 March 1902 vol 105 c967
(12.16.) MR. CALDWELL (Lanarkshire, Mid)

called attention to what he considered the inadequate prices provided for billeting. At a time when proposals were being made for increasing the pay of the soldier, it was appropriate to consider generally the question of the amount to be charged by the licensed victualler for billeting. With their customary lack of foresight, the Government had not noticed that the present Bill afforded the opportunity of dealing with this question. He simply rose to intimate that this was a point that would be raised in the future, and if in the next Army (Annual) Bill, the matter was not remedied, there might be an all-night sitting to go into it.

Schedule agreed to.

Bill reported without Amendment; to be read the third time tomorrow.
