HC Deb 24 March 1902 vol 105 c838
MR. TULLY (Leitrim, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state on what grounds the police authorities in Boyle decline to enforce the provisions of The Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act, 1854, to prevent the sale of pigs on the streets on days not set apart for the pig fairs.

MR. WYNDHAM

On the 29th April of last year I informed the hon. Member that until the regulations made by the Town Commissioners under the Act of 1854 in this matter, had been confirmed by the Local Government Board, as required by Statute, the police cannot enforce the regulations. So far as the police are aware, the Commissioners have not yet obtained the Board's approval.
