HC Deb 21 March 1902 vol 105 cc711-2
MR. LAMBERT (Devonshire, South Molton)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any of the medical staff of the refugee camps have complained of their treatment by the chief superintendent; and whether the same have been dismissed by him without notice or reason assigned.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN.) Birmingham, W.

No, Sir, I have not received any complaint, but I may say I have absolute confidence in Sir William Maxwell, and I would not dream of interfering with his discretion in dealing with his subordinates.
