HC Deb 21 March 1902 vol 105 c725
MR. GILHOOLY (Cork Co., W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the necessity that exists for a lighthouse at Sheep's Head, in Bantry Bay: and seeing that Sheep's Head is at the entrance to the harbour of Berehaven, and that a number of wrecks have occurred in recent years between Sheep's Head and the Mizen Head, will he take steps for the erection of a lighthouse at Sheep's Head.

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

No, Sir. My attention has not been called to the necessity for a lighthouse at Sheep's Head in Bantry Bay, and I understand that the Commissioners of Irish Lights, who are responsible for the lighting of the coast, do not consider that the erection of lighthouse at that spot is desirable.
