I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if he will furnish the name of the Commanding Officer who recommended the purchase of the Hotel on the Peak, Hong Kong, for barracks, at a cost of upwards of £39,000; and was he advised by a valuer; if so, by whom.

The purchase was recommended by Major General Black, acting on the unanimous recommendations of his responsible advisers.
