MACVEAGH (Down, S.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieu-tenant of Ireland whether the prosecutions in connection with the recent rioting in Dromore, County Down, will be conducted under the Criminal Law and Procedure Act; and, whether, in view of similar disturbances in the same district on two previous occasions, it is the intention of the Government to establish a police barracks for the protection of life and property in the neighbourhood.

The complete report of the evidence available in the case has not yet reached me. Pending its receipt I am not in a position to answer the first part of the Question. As regards the suggestion that a police barrack should be established in the neighbourhood, that is entirely a matter for consideration by the local responsible Authorities, to whom the suggestion has been referred.
