HC Deb 13 March 1902 vol 104 cc1265-6
MR. CAINE

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether any, and, if so, what reply has been received from the Government of India to the memorial signed by the right hon. Lord Hobhouse, K.C.S.I., and others, praying for the separation of judicial and executive duties in India, presented through the India Office in August, 1899, and forwarded by him to the Government of India for consideration and report; and will he lay the correspondence upon the Table of the House.

LORD G. HAMILTON

I have ascertained that the Government of India have been consulting the Local Governments on this subject, and that they have the question under their consideration.
