HC Deb 13 March 1902 vol 104 cc1260-1
CAPTAIN NORTON

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if he can state whether soldiers in possession of good conduct badges will continue to receive pay for those badges after 1st April, 1902, in addition to pay at the increased rate.

MR. BRODRICK

A soldier in possession of a good conduct badge under the old system will not receive pay for that badge, in addition to the increased rate of pay which is given for good conduct and efficiency, if he accepts the new terms; that is to say, he will receive the 2d. at once for stoppages, without deduction, and will continue to receive any good conduct pay he could previously have earned. He will receive in two years time the 6d., with any additional good conduct pay which may be earned under the new terms.
