§ CAPTAIN NORTON (Newington, W.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the fact that a body of Yeomanry 150 strong, which had been captured upon three occasions, is encamped On the hills in the neighbourhood 713 of Ficksburg, the military authorities refusing to re-arm them in consequence of their behaviour; whether these men are paid at the rate of 5s. a day; and can he state how he proposes to deal with them.
§ MR. BRODRICKLord Kitchener informs me that the statement is absolutely untrue. He adds that he does not keep useless men in South Africa. I shall be glad if the hon. Member could give me the materials on which he based this allegation.
