HC Deb 07 March 1902 vol 104 c720
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether any contract has yet been signed with the North British Railway Company for the conveyance of the Stornoway mails via Mallaig; and, if so, will he state the nature of the conditions.

MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN

No contract has been made with the North British Railway Company for the conveyance of the Stornoway mails viz Mallaig. Mails from Stornoway are conveyed via Mallaig, but there would be no advantage in sending mails to that place by that route, and these mails are therefore still forwarded via Kyle.
