§ MR. BRODRICKIt was decided to employ this officer in South Africa pending his appointment to a command in India. A vacancy has occurred earlier than was expected, and he has accordingly been ordered to India.
§ MR. CHARLES HOBHOUSEThe right hon. Gentleman has not answered the Question as to the cost of the voyage to South Africa and back, and the nature and duration of the service rendered there.
§ MR. BRODRICKWhen an officer is required for a high command in India, the Government do not take into consideration the cost of the passage.
