§ SIR SEYMOUR KING (Hull, Central)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he intends to take steps, by the introduction of a Bill or otherwise, for giving effect at an early date to the recommendations of the Report of the Departmental Committee which inquired into the use of preservatives and colouring matters in the preservation and colouring of food; and whether he is aware of the opinion among the sanitary authorities in England in favour of those recommendations.
§ MR. GRANT LAWSONThe Report referred to is under consideration, and I cannot at present make any statement as to the course to be taken in regard to it. With respect to the last part of the Question, the Local Government Board have received only one or two communications from sanitary authorities on the subject.
