§ MR. FENWICK (Northumberland, Wansbeck)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the case of Joseph Flavell Burton, of the 3rd Battalion Railway Pioneers, who on the 3rd 167 January, 1902, was sentenced by court-martial to imprisonment for nine calendar months, on the charge of dereliction of duty when acting as a sentinel at Rietfontein on 24th December, 1901, at No. 3 Blockhouse; and, whether he will make further inquiry into this case with a view to a reduction of the sentence.
