HC Deb 25 June 1902 vol 110 cc8-9
MR. FIRBANK (Hull, E.)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether the Albert Medal will be bestowed on Captain Freeman, of the steamer "Rod-dam," of London, in recognition of his conduct on the occasion of the Martinique eruption in saving the ship.

(Answer.) I find from the terms of the Royal Warrant and the circumstances of this case, that I am unable to recommend the award of the Albert Medal. At the same time the Board of Trade fully recognise the highly meritorious nature of the service rendered by Captain Freeman, and they have decided to award him a piece of plate which will be formally presented to him in due course. —(Board of Trade.)
