§ MR. ALFRED DAVIESI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will state what financial arrangements, if any, have been made for the purpose of assisting the restoration of the loyalists of South Africa to their homes, and supplying those who, owing to war losses, are unable to provide themselves with food, shelter, and the necessary amount of seed, stock, and implements, for the resumption of their normal occupations.
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. J. CHAMBERLAIN,) Birmingham, W.Part of the sum allotted for relief and resettlement out of the amount voted last year as a grant in aid of the revenue of the new colonies has been expended in assisting lovalists returning to their homos, and further sums will be placed at Lord Milner's disposal for the purpose of ensuring that the assistance given to the loyalists needing help shall be not less generous than that given to the burghers.
