§ (2.15.) THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.at the Bar, acquainted the House that he had a message from His Majesty the King, signed with His Majesty's own hand, and he presented the same to the House, and it was read by Mr. Speaker (all the Members being uncovered), and is as followeth—

§ His Majesty, taking into consideration the eminent services rendered by Lieutenant-General Lord Kitchener 1392 of Khartoum, G.C.B., C.C.M.G., Commander-in-Chief of His Majesty's Forces in South Africa, and being desirous, in recognition of such services, to confer upon him some signal mark of his favour, recommends to His faithful Commons that he should be enabled to grant Lord Kitchener the sum of fifty thousand pounds.
§ Ordered, That His Majesty's most gracious message be referred to the Committee of Supply.—(Mr. A. J. Balfour.)
