§ MR NANNETTII beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, whether he has received a copy of a resolution passed at the Irish Trades Congress held at Cork recently, protesting against the proposed tax on corn, and stating that it falls exclusively on the working classes; and whether, in view of similar resolutions from the workers generally, he will consider the advisability of substituting some other article which will not have such an effect on the circumstances of the poor of the whole country.
§ SIR M. HICKS BEACHI have received this resolution, but I do not think that the description of the duty as falling exclusively on the working classes is at all correct, and I am not prepared to take the course suggested in the Question.
