§ MR. NANNETTI (Dublin, College Green)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been called to the practice carried on in Dublin of tenement holders of houses systematically 1124 increasing the rents on their tenants; whether he has read the observations of the Recorder of that city in deciding cases recently brought before him for ejectments; and whether, in view of the hardship inflicted on poor tenants, he will consider the advisability of introducing legislation to deal with this matter.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe hon. Member has sent me a newspaper report of the Recorder's observations in the cases referred to. I cannot hold out any hope of being able to introduce legislation in the matter.
