To ask the Secretary of State for India if he would state the average amount of rupees coined annually during the ten years immediately preceding the closing of the mints, as well as the average amount coined annually during the same period subsequent to that event.

(Answer.) The average amount of rupees coined annually during the ten years from 1883–4 to 1892–3 was 78,070,508, or, excluding the recoinage of old rupees of various kinds, 73,979,927. The average annual coinage in the nine years from 1893–4 to 1901–2 was about 31,495,610 rupees, or excluding re-coinage for Native States etc., 21,372,163.—(India Office.)
