MR. SCOTT MONTAGU (Hampshire, New Forest)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether his attention has been called to the resolution of the Johannesburg Chamber of Mines in favour of the imposition of a coast duty of 5s. to 7s. 6d. per case on all blasting explosives imported into South Africa; whether the effect of such a duty, amounting to £10 to £15 per case, has been considered by His Majesty's Government with reference to British manufacturers who have borne the war taxation.
