HC Deb 30 July 1902 vol 112 cc125-6
MR. KENNETH BALFOUR (Christchurch)

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether the grant to time-expired men who have served more than one year after their period of service with the colours, if they now return to civil life, of a bounty of 14s. for each month completed beyond the extra year they have served, will be extended to those who would otherwise be eligible, but who have elected to prolong their period of service with the colours instead of passing into the Reserve.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) Soldiers extending their service or reengaging will receive the special gratuities to which they would have been entitled had they been transferred to the Reserve or taken their discharge.
