To ask the Lord Advocate if he can state the number 01 lads who have, during the past year, deserted from His Majesty's training ship "Caledonia," stationed at South Queensferry; and what sum of money has been paid to the police for bringing back deserters.

(Answered by Mr. Arnold-Forster.)The number of boys who deserted from H.M.S. "Caledonia," during the financial year ended 31st March last was forty-two. The total amount paid in connection with the recovery of deserters was £61 18s. 1d.
