§ MR. J. P. FARRELLI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that twenty-two labourers in the Ballymahon Union recently petitioned the Local Government Board to give them the additional half acre allowed under the Labourers Acts; and whether lie can take any steps for holding an independent inquiry in this instance.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe petition was referred to the District Council, who informed the Board that it did not consider that any additional half-acre allotments were required at present. No application for a local inquiry has been made to the Board, and in any case the requirements of section 4 of the Labourers Act of 1891. under which such an inquiry could be held, have not been satisfied.
§ MR. J. P. FARRELLIf independent application is made, will the right hon. Gentleman consider it?
