§ MR. SAMUEL YOUNG (Cavan, W.)To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that, on the 28th of February last, Constable Kevelehan, of the Kings-court, County Cavan, Police Station, assaulted and robbed a man named John M'Mahon; and will he say whether an inquiry has been held into that case; and, if so, will he state the result.
(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) The constable did not assault and rob this man. But he found him drunk on the street, a bottle containing whisky lying beside him. The man was convicted of drunkenness, and had several times previously been convicted of a similar offence.
