§ MR. TULLY (Leitrim, S.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has received resolutions from a number of County Councils and Poor Law Boards in Ireland, asking to have ministers of religion declared eligible for membership of local councils in Ireland, the same as in England; and whether he will take steps to give effect to these resolutions.
§ MR. WYNDHAMYes, Sir. I have received a certain number of resolutions. The Irish Act differs from the English Act in this respect. The expediency of making it conform is worthy of consideration, but that is by far too contentious to be raised in connection with the Bill before the House.
