HC Deb 07 July 1902 vol 110 cc918-9
MR. M'GOVERN (Cavan, W.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, having regard to the fact that licensed persons who supply habitual drunkards with drink are rarely prosecuted in Ireland, will he direct the attention of the Royal Irish Constabulary to the Licensing Act, with a view to the provisions being put into operation.

(Answer.) During the past year, 215 persons were prosecuted throughout Ireland for breaches, of the law in this respect. Of these, 139 were convicted. The attention of the constabulary is about to be specially directed to the matter.—(Irish Office.)
