ARTHUR LEE (Hants, Fareham)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can state the total number of recruits raised for the regular Army and for the Militia respectively during the year 1901, specifying in each case the numbers obtained for the infantry arms and the number of specials.
§ MR. BRODRICKThe number of recruits for the regular Army (exclusive of one-year and re-enlisted men) was 45,356, of which 24,446 were for Infantry. The number of recruits for the Militia was 37,644, of which 32,668 were for Infantry. The specials amounted to about 33 per cent.
