§ MR. JAMES O'KELLYI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether the Persian policy of His Majesty's Government is consistent with the occupation by Russia of a seaport in any part of the Persian Gulf; and whether any exchange of views has taken place between the two Governments on this subject.
§ * LORD CRANBORNEThe occupation of a port in the Persian Gulf by any Power would be inconsistent with the maintenance of the status quo which, as I have already informed the House, is the policy of His Majesty's Government.
