HC Deb 20 January 1902 vol 101 cc316-7
MR. DELANY (Queen's County, Ossory)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether he can state the result of his promised investigation, during the Recess, into the condition of things brought about by the flooding of the River Barrow, which injuriously affects large areas and five important towns in King's County, Queen's County, and the counties of Kildare and Carlow; and whether the Government propose taking any steps to remedy the evils complained of by the inhabitants of those districts.

MR. WYNDHAM

I have carefully considered this matter, in conjunction with a number of similar projects. The question of arterial drainage is undoubtedly one of importance, but also of considerable magnitude. I see no immediate prospect of being in a position to deal with it.
